Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information SideBox Studios collects when you visit sideboxstudios.com or send a custom request, and how we use and protect it.

Who we are

SideBox Studios is operated by its owner, based in Washington State, USA ("SideBox Studios", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us about privacy at contact@sideboxstudios.com.

Information we collect

• Requests and messages. Your name, email address, the type of piece, the place or route name, project details and anything else you choose to tell us.
• Direct emails. The address and contents of any email you send to contact@sideboxstudios.com.
• Technical information. Our hosting provider records standard connection data, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We also measure how the site is used, as described under Analytics below. We do not use advertising pixels.

How we use it

• To review your inquiry, discuss whether a piece is possible and respond to your questions. The website does not currently take orders or payments.
• To protect the site, prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations.

Route files and location data

The contact form does not accept file uploads. Please do not include GPS tracks, private routes, precise home locations or other sensitive data in your message. If a file is needed later, we will agree with you on a suitable way to share it.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that run this website, our contact form, our email and our site analytics, with professional advisers when needed, and with authorities when the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Analytics

• Visit counts (always on). Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views and where visits come from, such as a search engine or another site. It does not use cookies or store anything in your browser, and it does not identify you.
• Microsoft Clarity (only if you accept). If you choose Accept in the cookie banner, Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and the pages visited, including session replays, so we can see where the site is confusing. It hides anything you type in forms. Clarity sets cookies (such as _clck and _clsk) to connect the pages of one visit. Microsoft processes this data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. If you decline, Clarity is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Cookies and browser storage

The website sets cookies only for Microsoft Clarity, and only after you accept them. Your cookie choice itself is saved in your browser for 12 months so we do not ask again on every page. The site does not store contact-form entries in your browser. If you choose to play the previews while your device requests reduced motion, we remember that choice in your browser's session storage until you pause them or close the tab. Formspree receives the information you submit through the contact form and may process technical information to deliver and protect the service.

International transfers

SideBox Studios is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you are outside the United States, your information will be transferred there, where privacy laws may differ from those at home. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards offered by our providers, such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

• Inquiries that do not become orders, including our Formspree records and email copies: up to 12 months after our last exchange, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve a dispute. We then delete the copies we control.
• Formspree's dashboard archive and any data it retains under its own terms are subject to its service settings. We will review those settings and update this notice if our plan changes.
• Hosting logs: for the period set by our hosting provider.
• Microsoft Clarity data: for the period set by Microsoft Clarity (currently recordings for up to 30 days and heatmaps for up to 9 months).

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including limiting access to it and using providers with strong security practices. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, request a copy, correction or deletion, and exercise any other rights available where you live. Email contact@sideboxstudios.com to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity first and may have to retain some records where the law requires it.

Children

The site and our products are not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site or by email where appropriate.
